The
so-called new society, based on information, immediacy
and essentially on the Internet, has had a rapid response
from Motorpress-Ibérica. MPIBs relationship
with the new technologies began in 1999 with the creation
of the Consortiums Intranet, an electronic corporate
information medium that serves as a nexus among the
companys employees in Spain, Portugal and Latin
America. The Intranets natural development has
made it surmount the limits of an internal net. It has
now become an extranet which can be accessed by people
from outside the company such as clients, partners,
employees
Thanks to this new medium, the advertising
clients of the publishing company can have access to
all sorts of information about the magazines they are
interested in, number of copies printed, readers
profile, sales numbers
all with just a click of
the mouse.
This corporate website is another clear example of the
scope that digital communication through the Internet
can attain today, and of the great utility that big
companies can derive from it.
As for the readers, Motorpress-Ibérica created
Autopista Online
in 1999, the website of the magazine Autopista, which
led the way for the creation of a series of other specialized
internet portals.
Autopista Online success among websurfers (endorsed
by more than three million pages seen every month) has
encouraged MPIB to launch new vertical portal projects
on the Net, as Ecuestre
Online, that was born in October 2002. It
is the first Spanish-speaking portal specialized on
horses' world. Ecuestre Online is, finally, a content
web, but has also a closed part that only can be entered
by paying a subscription with several time and rate
possibilities, which means a new step towards new trends
on the Net.
In the near future, the company will create specialized
web media on motorcycles, bicycles, lifestyles
